Big levels still in sight in GBP/USD

Posted: 16 Jun 2013 11:49 PM PDT

Despite the push on the close Friday cable still can’t seem to cling on to the 1.57 handle. We above in Asia and the spent the night slowly slipping down until falling below once again.

The pound still remains fairly well bid and we’ve only managed a low of 1.5691.

That low sits right on top of the 55 wma at 1.5690 and is adding to the support at the moment. We also have the 200 dma at 1.5696.

Above is where it gets interesting.

gbpusdweekly 17 06 2013

There is still a lovely confluence of three big levels. The 100 wma at 1.5761, the 61.8 fib from the Jan/Mar hi/lo at 1.5788 and the 200 wma at 1.5791. We also have strong resistance at at 1.5786/92 and have a Feb weekly high at 1.5808.

As a technical trade it’s an absolute dream with so much stacking up against the upside.

We have a way to go before we get up there and there’s plenty to keep us occupied in the meantime.

Resistance and tech levels are seen at;

  • 1.5710 55 mma
  • 1.5743
  • 1.5786
  • 1.5792
  • 1.5808 Feb 2nd week high
  • 1.5850 tech res and Feb 1st week high

Support and tech are at

  • 1.5686 55 H1ma
  • 1.5660/61 (broken t/l may hold minor support) 100 H1ma
  • 1.5635
  • 1.5579 200 H1ma
  • 1.5571
  • 1.5554 55 H4ma
  • 1.5550
  • 1.5527

I’m still very much looking to take a short starting ahead of the 100 wma at 1.5750/60 and again around 1.5785 with a stop at around 1.5815.
